Functional description of the fibre washer:

The fibre washer is designed as a pre-stage machine upstream of the final film washer for the mechanical separation of fibrous material (paper) from flat plastics, with simultaneous shredding of the paper.

The main physical processes used in the fibre washer are friction and centrifugal force.

The fully wetted paper falls together with the film portions into the shaft of the material infeed, which is located at the lowest point of the machine, which is aligned diagonally upwards.

The fed material is caught by the very fast rotating rotor and accelerated strongly.

The fed material is now driven in spiral form through the machine, which is inclined upwards at 35°, by means of the slightly inclined rotor blades, while constantly rotating and turning and adding dilution water.

Due to the inclined position of the fibre washer, a large part of the entrained water is discharged downwards through the stator perforated plate against the direction of travel due to gravity. This ensures that the machine is not flooded with water despite large amounts of dilution water.

Due to the high relative speed between the stationary perforated screen basket (stator) and the fast-turning rotor, there is strong friction between the rotor blade ends and the screen basket.

and the screen basket. This friction causes the various layers of a composite system (e.g. beverage carton), which have not yet separated from each other, to be detached.

paper is rubbed or frayed. The permanent rubbing effect during the press run strongly favours defibration.

favoured. The centrifugal forces generated by the high rotor speed throw the aqueous fibre suspension (fibres and water) off the still large pieces of film and these

pass through the perforated screen basket into the discharge level of the machine housing.

Due to the high water addition or dilution and the resulting high flow speeds, there is no need for a cleaning device in the fibre washer.

The film particles leave the inside of the screen basket at the end of the inclined machine and are transferred or discharged via the outlet opening to the downstream final film washer.

 

Condition of the  fibre washer:

The fibre washer has only been in operation for approx. 3,500 hours as part of a pilot project, after which it was dismantled and put into storage. The machine is in very good condition, ready for loading.
